Students interview public on tolerance, immigration and Downton Abbey.

TeamProfile_3

Last Friday I took students to practise their English in a real-life setting. In our tutorials students requested to speak to people in the street and after an agreement with the class we decided to go out as a whole school group.

In the lessons we thought of our own questions to ask members of the public and topics ranged from Downton Abbey to Manchester United vs Manchester City, tolerance and immigration.

Although a little nervous at first, the students soon built up their courage and became quite confident in approaching members of the public. Of course some people did not have time to stop and talk, but the students were prepared for that eventuality and weren’t phased. Everyone said that they really enjoyed it and found the range of accents and nationalities in Piccadilly Gardens quite surprising.
I’ve asked my students to write an account of their experience for homework so I hope to share it with you soon.
