British Council inspection and accreditation
06/10/2014We are very pleased to announce that after our inspection in June, Communicate School of English has been awarded accreditation by The British Council. The British Council accreditation is a sign of the quality of our English language school in Manchester city centre. They run regular spot checks and ensure that we are keeping within the standards they set.
The British Council inspection looks at lots of different areas of the school, including the Management, the Resources and Environment, Teaching and Learning and Welfare of Students. We scored well in all of these areas, with particular strengths in Premises and Facilities (environment).
Premises and Facilities
We scored highly in the Premises and Facilities section. The school is comfortable and well-furnished and the inspectors really liked our student room so make sure you check it out! You can study at the desks and on the student computers; we have put lots of links to useful websites on the bookmarks section. You can also access some of the class audio CDs on the computers. Don’t forget that there are graded readers in the office for you to borrow and if you would like to study at school your teacher can help you with resources.
Accommodation
The inspectors went to inspect our host families and halls of residences to make sure that our students have comfortable and safe places to live while they are studying. All our host families are caring and provide comfortable accommodation along with some great home-cooked food. The halls of residences organise lots of social activities and are the best place for students who want to remain sociable while they are studying.
Student voices
The inspectors had a focus group to talk with the students and teachers, and found out some thoughts from the people who really matter. Our students were really positive about their experiences at Communicate and said that they loved the teaching and that they are progressing and learning every day.
Observations
One of the most important parts of the inspection was the observation of classes. They looked at our style of teaching and the quality of our lessons. We scored well for all of our lessons and the inspectors really appreciated our variety of teaching styles and different methods in the classroom. They also inspected our schemes of work and Academic management and approved all our teaching methods and programmes.
Thanks to all of our students and staff for working so hard to help us have a successful inspection and get us towards accreditation!
