Social Activities

At Malvern House Manchester we organise social activities every week.

Most of the social activities outside the school are free of charge*. These events are a great way to practise your English outside of your lessons. It is also an opportunity to make friends and chat to teachers away from the classroom. Your teacher will let you know about the next social activity in your lessons, or you can look on our social activity calendar on the first floor or check social media.

Supervision of under 18s during social activities.

If you have an idea or recommendation for a new social activity, speak to reception or email us on manchester@malvernplc.com.

*Please note that you will need money for travel tickets, food and drink during trips. We will always tell you before the trip if you should take any money with you. As an estimate, a return train ticket to Liverpool is £12, a sandwich £3, a drink in a pub is £2-4, a meal in a restaurant about £15, a bowling pass £8.

Cancellations/changes: for most of our activities you do not need to book or pay in advance. For trips (such as stadium tours and city trips) you will need to book and pay in advance. If you cancel, no refund will be given. If we need to cancel the activity, a full refund will be given. Please speak to a Student Support Officer for more information or to book onto an activity.

We regularly organise social activities which are a great way to practise your English, meet friends and teachers. You can read about the next activity on the board in the student room or on our website. You can look at our social media to see photos of recent activities. Activities take place a few times per week. They include:

    • International food day
    • Bowling
    • Games afternoon
    • Museums
    • Art galleries
    • Go-karting
    • City trips (e.g. Liverpool, Chester)
    • Football stadium trips

Most activities are within a walking distance of the school. However, students will need to pay for public transport and personal expenses, like food and drink. We will tell you before the social activity if you need to bring any money. Here are some approximate prices: a drink in a café is £3, a tram ticket £4.60, bowling £8, train ticket to Liverpool £12, a meal in a restaurant between £6 and £15.

If you have an idea or recommendation for a new social activity, speak to reception or email us on manchester@malvernplc.com
