The Fashion World comes to Manchester!

Manchester’s international relevance keeps growing!

Everybody knows that Manchester is famous worldwide for its brilliant football and music, however in recent years it has become a growing platform for artists and business from all fields. The city’s international relevance gains importance year on year and this does not go unnoticed by big global brands. In fact, Manchester was chosen this year to host the annual Chanel fashion show, an event previously organised in capitals such as Rome, Paris and New York.

Chanel chose Manchester as it is ‘one of the most effervescent cities of pop culture and an avant-garde one, whose bands, spanning all genres, have changed the history of music’. This week, the brand took over the Northern Quarter and transformed one of its iconic streets into their catwalk, right around the corner from Communicate School.

The city is already home to the headquarters of giant fashion brands such as Boohoo, Nasty Gal and Missguided, and the Chanel show confirms Manchester’s relevance across the world not just for football, but for fashion and other arts.

In line with Manchester’s developing and innovative nature, in 2024 Communicate School will be offering a new range of Professional English courses that will focus on a wide range of areas, and that will offer our students the opportunity to develop their professional English skills to progress in their careers, whilst immersed in the wonderful culture of Manchester. Maybe one of our new courses will be English for Fashion… Chanel will probably quite appreciate that!
