An interview with Andy

Why did you choose to work in the EFL industry?

Working in the EFL industry gave me the opportunity to combine my interest in language with the chance to travel and to meet interesting people from all over the world.

What’s the best thing about your job?

The best thing about my job is that I am constantly meeting new people and can watch them flourish with their English studies. I am able to share cultural experiences and become a more worldly person while doing the job I enjoy.

What were you like in school?

As a teenager I was somewhat of a clown and wasn’t the best student in secondary school, but I became more motivated and was more successful in further and higher education.

What do you like to do outside of work? 

I like to socialise with friends, watch football, read history and go for long walks with my dog.

Who is your role model and why?

I don’t have one role model. I have always tried to take positive influences from wherever I can find them, be it at work, amongst friends, at university and in my family.

How would your best friend describe you?

Probably as too stressed with small things and too relaxed with big things.

What would your autobiography be called?

Probably like Spike Milligan, ‘I told you I was ill’.

Describe your ideal Sunday morning.

My ideal Sunday morning would be cleaning the house whilst listening to music. I find cleaning strangely cathartic.

If you could describe Communicate in 3 words, what would they be?

Positive, supportive, engaging.
