First Impressions of Manchester
05/11/2016… by Communicate students.
1. FRIENDLY PEOPLE
Students say that people smile a lot, are very helpful and polite.
A comment by Ana from Spain:
‘When I asked a shop assistant for directions, first she rang someone to ask about it, then she walked with me to make sure I was going the right way. She was very patient knowing my English wasn’t perfect!
I’ve met many kind people here, it’s definitely the friendliest city I’ve been to so far. Once you’ve been here for a while you’ll start smiling more – it’s infectious!”
2. INTERESTING BUILDINGS
Students often mention that the buildings are grand and beautiful. Manchester is the home of the Inddustrial Revolution so the architecture demonstrates a variety of architectural styles. One of our popular social activities is a walk around Manchester cotton mills, canals and the Town Hall; the final stop usually being a modern skyscraper Beetham Tower where students enjoy a cocktail and a view onto the whole city.
3. GOOD WEATHER 🙂
Yes, we know what you’re thinking – ‘Really?’. You must agree though, that the weather in the UK, and especially in Manchester is pleasantly “moderate”- it’s rarely too hot or too cold.
Once, one of our students from Saudi Arabia started dancing in the rain in front of the school. He later said he loved the rain and it made him so happy he couldn’t stop himself!
